Prewashing is often sensible. Plain cotton pieces may be rotated, but directional prints require rotation to be locked.

Before you calculate

• Measure the usable width after preparation.
• Check shrinkage, nap, stretch and motif direction.
• Keep a small test piece and record actual usage.
